What’s usually included in an all-inclusive vacation?

Most all-inclusive packages include your room, meals, snacks and drinks (including alcohol), plus non-motorized water sports and nightly entertainment. Packages booked from Canada usually include your flights and airport transfers too. Extras like spa treatments, excursions and premium dining or drinks can cost more, depending on the resort and room category.

Should I choose an adults-only or a family-friendly resort?

It depends on the vibe you’re after! Adults-only resorts are quieter and great for couples and friends. Family resorts have kids’ clubs, splash pads and waterslides. Some resorts sit right next to a sister property, so you get the best of both. Your Travitude Travel Group travel consultant can tell you which resorts our team has stayed at and which room categories are worth it.

When is the best time to book an all-inclusive?

Book as early as you can for the best choice of resorts, rooms and flights. All-inclusive vacations can usually be booked up to 11 months in advance, and group trips, like destination weddings, can often be booked up to 2 years ahead. Booking early matters most for March Break, Christmas and other school holidays, which fill up fast. Last-minute deals do come up, but you’ll have fewer resorts and departure times to choose from.

Is it safe to travel to the Caribbean during hurricane season?

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with the peak usually from mid-August to October. Lots of travellers go in those months and have great weather, often at lower prices. We recommend travel insurance that covers trip interruption, and your travel consultant will help you if weather affects your plans.

Does it cost more to book an all-inclusive with a travel agent?

In most cases, no. The price is usually the same as booking directly with the tour operator, and you get a real person to help before you go and while you’re away. A professional planning fee applies to all-inclusives booked with a travel credit or voucher, and we’ll always tell you upfront if a fee applies.

Do I need a passport and travel insurance for a sun vacation?

Yes. Canadians must travel with a valid passport, and we recommend it be valid for at least six months past your return date. Some destinations only require three months, but six months is the safest rule of thumb. We also strongly recommend travel insurance, because your provincial health plan covers very little outside Canada.
