What do Canadians need to travel to Barbados?

Canadians don’t need a visa for a vacation in Barbados. Canadians must travel with a valid passport, and we recommend it be valid for at least six months past your return date. Some destinations only require three months, but six months is the safest rule of thumb. Your travel consultant will let you know about any arrival forms to fill out before you fly.

Which part of Barbados is best for an all-inclusive?

The west coast (also called the Platinum Coast) has the calmest water and a more upscale, relaxed feel. It’s home to Mango Bay in Holetown, which Amy and Allison toured. The south coast is livelier, with St. Lawrence Gap’s restaurants and bars, and the east coast is beautiful for sightseeing but too rough for swimming.

Do you recommend any hotels that aren’t all-inclusive?

Yes! Barbados is a great island for eating out, so a hotel without an all-inclusive plan can work really well. Amy and Allison stayed at Southern Palms Beach Club on Dover Beach, booked room only or with breakfast, with St. Lawrence Gap’s restaurants and bars just steps away. Read all about it in our Barbados With Allison blog.

How long is the flight from Toronto to Barbados?

Direct flights from Toronto to Barbados take about 5 hours. You land at Grantley Adams International Airport on the south of the island, a short drive from the south coast and a bit longer to the west coast.

Should I bring Barbados or US dollars?

US dollars are widely accepted, and the Barbados dollar is pegged at 2 to 1 with the US dollar. Hotels and most restaurants take major credit cards. Tipping policies vary by resort, so ask your travel consultant what to expect at yours.

When is the best time to visit Barbados?

December to April is the driest and most popular time to visit. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and those months often have lower prices and plenty of sunshine, so we recommend travel insurance that covers trip interruption.
