Quick takeaways

  • Three small Hyatt resorts sit side by side on the beach in Cozumel, and they almost flow into one another.
  • Dreams Cozumel Cape is a laid-back family resort where every room is a Preferred Club room.
  • Secrets Aura is adults only (18+) and the largest of the three, with 4 à la carte restaurants and 3 pools.
  • All three are only about 20 minutes from the Cozumel Airport, and Playa del Carmen is an easy ferry ride away.

While I was in Cozumel, I did site inspections at three resorts: Sunscape Sabor, Dreams Cozumel Cape and Secrets Aura. I’m so excited to share what I saw! All three properties sit side by side, literally on the beach and steps from the ocean, and they almost flow right into one another. They’re all very small resorts, which is a big part of their charm.

Three resorts, side by side

The resorts are only 20 minutes from the Cozumel Airport, and you can easily hop over to Playa del Carmen by ferry for the day. Because they sit right next to each other, guests can enjoy some of the restaurants and bars at the resort next door too (more on that below)!

One thing to know: my site inspection came just after Hurricane Helene had gone through, which brought sargassum (seaweed) that isn’t normal for this area. So if you spot some on the beach in my photos, that’s why!

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel

UpdateSince my visit, Sunscape Sabor has closed, and work is underway next door to expand the facilities and pools at Dreams Cozumel Cape. I’ve kept my notes here so you can see what the area was like, but reach out and I’ll give you the latest before you book!

Sunscape Sabor was a family resort with a total of 128 rooms. It was very compact, with one large pool. There was one buffet restaurant, the Sunny Side Grill, right on the ocean, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus one Mexican à la carte restaurant and a fun food truck for lunch.

This was the only property where I wasn’t able to see the rooms during my inspection, but I loved how close everything was to the beach. If you were looking for a no-frills, steps-from-the-beach, small resort for your family, this was it!

Dreams Cozumel Cape

Dreams Cozumel Cape is a family-friendly resort, and a small one, with only 154 rooms, all located steps away from the beach. Every room is a Preferred Club room, so everyone gets upgraded perks and amenities!

Guests 18 and over staying at Dreams Cozumel Cape also have access to Secrets Aura next door, which is great for couples or friends travelling together.
