There’s nothing quite like exploring the Greek Isles and Adriatic coast by sea — waking up in a new destination each morning, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, world-class cuisine, and rich history. My recent 10-night “Starry Nights in Greece & Croatia” voyage aboard Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady was everything a Mediterranean escape should be: vibrant, inspiring, and unforgettable.

Santorini, Greece – Iconic Beauty and Island Charm

Our first stop was the postcard-perfect island of Santorini, where whitewashed buildings spill down volcanic cliffs into the blue sea. We skipped the crowded cable car and instead enjoyed a quick boat transfer to the new port, where a personal guide whisked us away on an incredible island tour. We visited all the iconic viewpoints and wandered the picture-perfect streets of Oia, shopping and soaking in those legendary caldera views.

Lunch was a highlight — a seaside meal at an old tomato factory turned chic beachfront restaurant and beach club, complete with the sound of waves and the scent of fresh Mediterranean flavours. Wandering through the narrow cobblestone lanes later, we found hidden corners and quiet moments that captured the very soul of Santorini.

Bodrum, Turkey – Spice, Sound & Celebration

Next came Bodrum, a Turkish gem bursting with colour and life. The waterfront was lined with shops and cafés, where we discovered a local tea house offering delicious samples of Turkish teas and delights — a treat for all the senses. To top it off, we found ourselves swept up in a lively Oktoberfest celebration, dancing with locals in the streets before ending the day with a drink along the sparkling Aegean Sea.

Mykonos, Greece – Iconic Windmills & Island Nights

Our next destination, Mykonos, charmed us with its maze of narrow streets, lined with whitewashed buildings and vibrant bougainvillaea. We strolled past Little Venice, hiked to the famous windmills, and found the perfect beach to unwind on, surrounded by crystal-clear waters.

That night, we experienced the other side of Mykonos — lively and electric under the stars — before waking up to a peaceful, quiet island the next morning, long before the next ships arrived. Experiencing both sides of this island made our overnight stay especially memorable.

Dubrovnik, Croatia – Old Town & Game of Thrones Views

Dubrovnik was a highlight for history lovers and adventurers alike. We joined a 360° tour that took us to breathtaking heights above the city, where the views over Old Town and the Adriatic Sea were truly spectacular. Driving through areas made famous by Game of Thrones was a fun bonus! We spent the afternoon wandering the cobblestone streets, sampling gelato and local delicacies, enjoying Croatian wines, olives, and olive oils — a perfect blend of culture and flavour.

Kotor, Montenegro – Where Mountains Meet the Sea

If there was one stop that took our breath away, it was Kotor. Sailing into this fjord-like bay was a moment of pure awe — the mountains rising dramatically around us created a scene straight from a postcard. After a morning exploring the charming Old Town, we embarked on an exhilarating speedboat tour, venturing into hidden submarine caves, swimming in the glowing Blue Cave, and visiting the tiny island of Our Lady of the Rocks. It was an unforgettable day on the water, and without a doubt, one of our favourite experiences of the entire trip.

Corfu, Greece – The Perfect Farewell

Our final stop was the lush island of Corfu, where history meets island life. We explored Corfu Town, with its winding lanes, centuries-old fort, and authentic fishing village charm. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, a perfect way to end an incredible voyage before sailing back to Athens.
