I spent an amazing and unforgettable week back in June 2024 traveling to Jordan.

It was a trip that was a year in the making, a year of questioning is it happening or not happening. I am so glad that it did happen!! From the moment I landed I felt nothing but welcomed by the Jordanians.

Is it safe to travel Jordan?

With all the uncertainty you may be asking why I went. Well quite simply Jordan has been at the top of my bucket list for a very long time. My decision to travel to Jordan was driven by this desire.

Right in the middle of the counties in crisis- Jordan is known to be the Switzerland of the Middle East.  However, don’t let their location deter you from visiting.

At no point during my visit did I feel unsafe, at times I felt safer walking in Jordan that I have felt in my own city. In fact, the Global Terrorism Index has Jordan listed as #75!!! The UK is listed at 4, Greece is at 34. So, travellers have been visiting countries that have a higher threat than Jordan.

Breathtaking Moments

When you visit Jordan, you must Visit Petra in that day and in the night. On certain evenings there is a beautiful, breathtaking event where the landmark is light up by thousands of candles and local Musicians are playing. Truly a beautiful experience for those traveling to Jordan.

While your in Petra you can stop and shop at the local stalls of the Bedouins- tribe that settled in Petra 200 years ago- though they do not live in Petra since it was declared at UNSECO site- they still reside on the lands nearby.

Thrills, Sun, Starry Nights

For those seeking some thrills and excitement you can head to Wadi Rum where many movies have been filmed-Dune series were filmed on location. With travel to Jordan, visiting Wadi Rum allows you to hop on a 4X4 jeep and journey through the scorching desert and stop to look at amazing stone formations, maybe spend the night in a camp under the starry skies and enjoy a traditional Nabetan meal- nomads that settled in Jordanian Wadi Rum. To To this day you will still find traditional Nabetian camps with tribes still residing there, as well as luxurious camps for travellers.

For the ocean lovers there is amazing snorkeling and scuba diving in the waters of the red sea. You will find all sorts of marine life as well as a sunken airplane!

NO trip to Jordan is complete without a stop at the city of Amman from souks to malls, art galleries and museums.  Amman has the perfect mix of everything modern and traditional this county has to offer.

The City of Jerash is a perfect day trip from Amman. Jerash is Jordan’s largest Roman Ruins site-with its ceremonial gates, colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres it serves as a reminder to when the Romans ruled in 63BC.

The trend for 2025 is that Jordan will be one of the most sought out destinations for travellers. It’s time to consider travel to Jordan for your next trip.
